Shuli Rand

Shuli Rand is a celebrated Israeli actor, director, screenwriter, composer, lyricist, and singer. His profound career is marked by exceptional critical success, including two Israeli Academy Awards (Ophir Awards) in 1992 and 2004, and the 2016 Ministry of Education's Lifetime Achievement Award for Jewish Culture.

Born in Bnei Brak in 1962 to a religious-nationalist family (Prof. Yaakov and Bella Rand), Rand studied in religious institutions until age 18, when he temporarily left religious observance. After completing his military service, he began studying acting in 1984. Four years later, Rand returned to Orthodox Judaism, becoming a committed follower of the Breslov Hasidic movement.

Rand’s acting career has spanned decades, encompassing appearances in dozens of films, series, stage plays, and musicals. He quickly became a pivotal and influential figure in Israeli culture, earning prestigious accolades such as the Meir Margalit Award for his role in the 1990 production of Hamlet, and the Actor of the Year Award in 1995 for his performances in the plays P'orei Peh and Pollard.

In addition to his stage and screen career, Rand is a prolific songwriter, having written and composed two major studio albums. His debut album, 'Nekudah Tovah', released in 2008 and musically produced by Shmulik Daniel, was a commercial phenomenon, achieving Platinum status after selling over 62,000 copies in its first year. The success earned him the Lyricist of the Year Award in 2009 for the album. In 2018, he released his second album, 'Ratzoh V'Shov', produced by Assaf Talmudi, which featured the hits "Tzaddik" and "Da Bni Ahuvi".

Between 2019 and 2024, Rand released numerous singles that became international hits, including the protest song "Achim Achim" released during the COVID-19 pandemic, 'Oker Harim', 'Mi She'Nisana HaReshut', and 'Echad Kamocha', alongside various collaborations. In 2022, he released the album 'Shuli Shir Benayon', featuring songs by Amiram Benayon, which was officially launched in two shows at the Tel Aviv Culture Palace. Throughout the Iron Swords War (starting in October 2023), Shuli Rand actively participated in numerous events supporting bereaved families and wounded IDF soldiers, and performed in official state ceremonies commemorating the tragedy. His artistic output continues with his fourth album, 'Erua Mitgalgel', released in 2025.
