Haim Israel
Haim Israel, a pioneer and leading figure in Israeli-Jewish music, absorbed the melodies and traditional flavors of Yemenite Piyutim from his father, who served as a Cantor. He grew up on the foundations of Tripoli-Jewish music from his grandfather's home and was also influenced by the Chasidic melodies of his surroundings. After completing his Yeshiva studies and serving as a Cantor for several years, he decided to fulfill his childhood dream and transition into a full-time professional singer.
Haim views his music as a genuine mission aimed at uniting the diverse segments of Israeli society. His songs focus on faith, daily struggles, and Israeli unity, successfully breaking barriers between the religious and secular worlds. His unique blend of East and West, sacred and secular, draws diverse audiences to his performances, composed of religious and secular people from various communities. In addition to his shows in Israel, Haim is a regular performer for Jewish communities across the globe.
Born in 1975, the son of Ovadia and Sara, Haim was the first artist to connect original songs of faith to a broad audience that were not based on existing folk or well-known melodies. At the age of 24, he launched his debut album, "Sha'arei Ratzon". His major breakthrough began following the release of his second album, "MiMa'amakim", featuring the hit "Yitgadal V'Yitkadash" and a powerful title-track duet alongside Yoav Yitzhak.
Since then, Israel has performed duets with some of Israel's greatest singers, including Eyal Golan, Neti Levi, and Shlomi Shabat, and has released nine additional albums. These include "B'Gan Shel HaChayim" with his brother, singer Itzik Eshel; the double album "Malachim", which featured one of his greatest hits, the Piyut "Lecha Eli," performed with Yoav Yitzhak; "Oked Ve'HaNe'ekad"; the double album "Ikvot BaChaim"; "Yesh Lanu Al Mi Lismoch"; "Derech Chadasha"—released after a challenging period in his personal life and accompanied by an extensive tour of the same name; "Kesem Ne'urai"; and the double album "Sipur Chayai".
In 2018, Israel launched the album "Yerushalayim" to mark 50 years since the city's reunification, with the title track becoming a symbol of the celebrations. The album's songs featured collaborations with leading figures in Israeli music, including Shlomi Shabat, Ishay Ribo, and Yishai Lapidot. In 2023, he released his latest album, "Hibarti Manginot". The album includes hits such as "Al Tipol", "Hibarti Manginot", "HaShabbat Sheli", and "HaLev Yode'a", alongside exciting collaborations with prominent figures, including Avraham Fried, Bentzi Stein, Ari Hill, and Yoav Yitzhak.
